About Kakuna Sushi

Kakuna Sushi is a japanese in Fremont, California. It is listed at 43472 Grimmer Blvd, Fremont, CA 94538, which places it among the local businesses of Fremont that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by.

Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In Fremont, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across California run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 11:30 am–9 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach Kakuna Sushi at (510) 252-1289; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. More information is available on its website, kakuna.menu11.com.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.4 out of 5 from 438 reviews, which is a strong result for a japanese in Fremont and suggests consistent service.

Fremont is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Fremont is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

Omg I loved this place! it’s so cute and ordering was super simple. This place is by a shopping center and right off the freeway so location is super convenient. The service was the best, didn’t know the servers name but he was the sweetest and efficient (I ate at 1:45ish on may 20th whoever worked then). The food was AMAZINGG super yummy and cheap! The total was around 50 for two huge bowls of soup, miso soup, two rolls and some drinks! Anywho it’s a great place I’d recommend this to anyone in Fremont:)

Almost $50 per person for TONS AND TONS of RICE! Rolls were deliberated packed with TONS and TONS of Rice! Nigiri Packed wth TONS of RICE. Deliberate Rice packing. Thin slices of fish on the rolls with lots of fatty sauce and a lot of rice to get you to get full quick. You'll be getting diabetes from eating the tons of jammed pack rice rolls here. RIP OFF.

Went to try out their AYCE option. Server seemed annoyed. Don't do it. Didn't get a chance to try the food. Service was non existent. Once order was finally placed, server alerted us that our ticket had not made it to the kitchen. This was after waiting for almost 30 minutes.... was low key relieved when he said they hadn't started making anything. We made our get away and went to sake 2 me down the street!! (Amazing as always) Don't trust the influencers promoting Kakuna, very limited menu for AYCE. Should have been a big red flag when we got there and the place was almost empty. Server spent more time dancing and skipping through the restaurant then checking in on his very few tables.

It was good. There’s a good variety of items in the menu. The staff was friendly, and the place is reasonably clean. Food wise, it was OK for the things that I ordered and the price is in line with what you would find everywhere else except for the Toro, which was rather expensive in my opinion. The black garlic Ramen was actually better than expected other than the eggs was fully boiled. I believe the eggs in the Ramen should be more like custard texture, which this one is not. The hand roll was a nice size as you can see in the picture. For now, I’ll give you the four star across the board, but I will go back to try some other dishes to give the final verdict.

The place is, well, forget the place, let’s talk about food. Soft shell crab - did not look good. Flat and squished. It was fishy and the taste was off, seriously off. I think it was rotten. Worst soft shell crab I’ve ever eaten in my life. Tempura- the veggies were good, I didn’t even bother with the shrimp since it looks like they cook it the same way as the soft shell crab, same batter too. Just stick with veggie tempura. I have never seen any restaurant had tempura came with 2 types of batters, unless it is one of those udon places that sells tempura by individual pieces. Chirachi sushi- big portion. Shashimi were fishy, definitely not fresh. Taste weird too. The only good thing about it was the fresh chopped mustard pickled on top. Salmon Kama - bland but decent. 2 stars for the vegetable tempura and Kama. Worse sushi/sashimi place ever. I do not recommend this place.
